2d3 Sensing Releases Catalina 2.0 Media Server
Irvine, Calif. (June 1, 2012) - 2d3 Incorporated (dba 2d3 Sensing), a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford, UK based OMG plc and technology leader in the field of computer vision, image understanding, and full motion imagery (FMV) exploitation, announced today the release of Catalina 2.0, its server-side motion imagery processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED) software suite. Catalina is available to the global motion imagery market.
Catalina 2.0 marks the evolution of the Catalina product line, the first release in the product line to take full advantage of the full breadth of 2d3 Sensing's expanded Tungsten 3.1 SDK, scheduled for release later this summer. Catalina 2.0 goes well beyond the significant capabilities of version 1 with a brand-new, modular PED architecture, an interactive framework designed to ease the analysts' workload.
The framework exposes an array of processing methods during the ingest, capture, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of motion imagery and related Motion Imagery Standards Board (MISB) metadata, applicable to live or archived feeds or clips. It is entirely standards-compliant and is tailored for easy interoperability with existing and legacy motion imagery systems through an open SOAP API.
This robust Catalina 2.0 implementation offers the following features and options:
Ingest, Search, and Archive
o Compatible with MS SQL and Postgres
o Built-in federation
o Leverages OGC's Catalog Service: Web (CSW) standard
o PL2 level security support
o Optional certificate-based authentication
Real time Processing Framework
o Ad-hoc, stream-based content delivery
o Contrast enhancement
"Batch" Processing Framework
o Batch ingest for legacy datasets
o Support for a wide range of CODECs/protocols in SD & HD
o Configurable for sub-100ms video transcode latency
o Pre-defined MISB- and NATO-compliant outputs
o Multiple simultaneous outputs supported to stream or disk
o Web-based media management and system admin GUI
"Ever since 2d3 and Sensing Systems combined in 2011, we have been hard at work building what we know to be the next generation of PED tools, designed by motion imagery analysts," said Jon Damush, President of 2d3 Sensing. "We have listened to the community and know that our customers demand easy-to-use, highly interoperable software, deployable in very short timeframes and at a price point that can be managed with today's shrinking budgets. Catalina 2.0 is the culmination of that effort. Catalina is the core of our product pyramid, which has Tungsten as its base and TacitView as its peak. We have built Catalina to provide tremendous PED capabilities in an extensible server-side architecture that we can tailor and customize to meet mission needs. "
Downloadable evaluation versions are available starting June 8, 2012. 2d3 Sensing will be exhibiting at AUVSI's North America event, 6-9 August 2012, in Las Vegas, NV, where 2d3 Sensing will demo the latest Catalina, Tungsten, and TacitView product offerings.
