THE NEED
In today’s global environment, situational awareness and actionable intelligence are critical to air and ground superiority. Manned and Unmanned Aerial Systems play a pivotal role in capturing this vital information with ‘eyes in the sky.’ The challenge is that these systems are producing volumes of data difficult to view with human eyes within a reasonable amount of time. Many times salient features and events go unnoticed or undocumented, and critical intelligence information is lost.
ENHANCE
It is no longer good enough to simply crop and forward imagery to the next user. Value must be added at every step in the chain. 2d3 provides you with revolutionary techniques to do just that - make your imagery better. Stabilization, spectrum optimization and super-resolution allow you to clean up even the worst images for wider consumption. Clips that may have been considered useless before, can now produce meaningful information and allow for more rapid decisions.

EXPLOIT
Imagery is not just for viewing. Information is contained in each image and each frame of video that can be used to mathematically produce video or metadata output. New data can be generated from nothing more than the source imagery.
The 'soda-straw' effect makes maintaining situational awareness difficult and many times a user is unable to identify an event simply because he was not looking at that part of the screen. 2d3 Sensing's mosaicking capability, when executed through TacitView, allows a user to create still images for either a collection of still images, or a video sequence. Now a large image of the entire context can be created and viewed as a whole. Add position and pointing metadata, and the image can be geo-located and exported to a variety of GIS applications.
Ever tried to see an ant on the ground when you are moving in a car? That is what it is like to look through an airborne EO or IR imager and try to pick out the bad guys on the ground. 2d3 Sensing has implemented moving target indication into TacitView to allow operators of even the most basic aerial imaging systems to pick out the motion from the video sequence. MTI will detect and track moving targets in the scene as long as they are in the field of view.

EXPORT
None of these tools are worth much if you cannot get the results to the people that need them. TacitView allows you to quickly create intelligence product in the formats most commonly used with the click of a mouse. Use our interface to arrange and build your intelligence product, then choose the output format and you are done.
TacitView is designed for interoperability with a wide array of existing systems and is capable of accepting still and motion imagery. TacitView is also capable of receiving metadata in many formats or even extracting metadata from burned-in overlays. TacitView supports live connections to imagery sources, or can import archive video and still imagery from existing database and video management systems.

MANAGE
TacitView connects to a video database management system, such as 2d3 Sensing's Catalina, and gives the user an integrated environment.
Find the imagery you need with intuitive search tools and unique presentation of query results, including map thumbnails, and 'age of imagery' indications.
Connect multiple TacitView stations together to build a imagery dissemination system that allows others on your network to share the same source imagery or view the imagery created by a particular analyst.

Irvine, CA (August 24, 2010) –2d3, Inc., a leading provider of vision science solutions for industrial, defense, and entertainment applications, today unveiled TacitView 2.0, a major new version of its software suite that leverages years of vision science experience to create Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) from aerial motion imagery and high resolution reconnaissance photos. The latest update includes a wealth of new features and scales the capabilities of TacitView to serve one soldier and/or intelligence centers with hundreds of analysts working collaboratively to disseminate intelligence among many different units. TacitView leverages vision science to enhance motion imagery through real-time stabilization, spectrum optimization and superior resolution, improving quality for real-time consumption; and to exploit the imagery to extract new pieces of information such as the 3D structure of the underlying terrain, or providing target indication over time with geo-locations on ortho-rectified mosaics. TacitView 2.0 brings a full set of new enhancement and exploitation tools to users.
Key features include:
· 3D Mapping Engine— Offering support for most forms of reference imagery users can now work with satellite maps, DTED/DEM, WMS map servers and other live data feeds. The 3D Mapping Engine also enables users to view reference imagery and tactical data in a full 3D environment.
· NITF-Support for input and output of tactical imagery and mosaics as NITF files.
· MISB / STANAG 4609 – Data can be exported from TacitView as MISB compatible files or live network transport streams
· Target Tasking— TacitView can now record progress through daily mission tasking and tag imagery with relevant details.
· Imagery Tagging— Users can now tag imagery with information about mission events; to identify people, buildings and activities, for example.
· Automated Tagging—TacitView stores information about the captured imagery (location the camera is pointing at, time, date, ID of aircraft capturing the image, etc.) which can be exploited by others during or after the mission.
· MIRC Chat Logging/Tagging— TacitView now captures and catalogs user terminology discussed using online chat systems, tying it to applicable images.
· Imagery Geo-registration— A new auto-registration module enables users to automatically register exact latitude and longitude data, to output an accurately-registered image. An optional precision registration tool uses a user-guided registration algorithm to select tie-points between reference images and tactical images.
· Enhanced Video Mosaicing Engine— Includes real-time ortho-rectified geo-registered mosaics.
· AltiMap Integration – Produce high resolution geo-registered mosaics using still images from reconnaissance photos.
Additional new capabilities in TacitView 2.0 include enhanced enterprise database management — the ability to archive; advanced/nested queries facilitates locating individual data points within terabytes of visual information; single-click generation of geo-registered still images, video clips and metadata with drag and drop support to PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and other applications; and multi-core / multi CPU support.
Jon Damush, President of 2d3 Inc. said, “Our goal with TacitView continues to be to empower users to enhance and exploit still and motion imagery. TacitView 2.0 delivers a host of new capabilities that do just that — with a solution that is more scalable, more flexible, and suitable for lightweight mobile computing, individual soldiers, analyst workstations and even enterprise servers. It’s all designed to help users at all levels shrink the time from acquisition to decision.”
About TacitView
TacitView is designed for interoperability with a wide array of existing systems and is capable of accepting analog, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, MOV, MJPEG, JPEG, NITF, and many other formats of imagery. TacitView can also receive metadata in KLV, EXIF, NMEA, and other formats or even extract metadata from burnt-in overlays. TacitView supports live connections to imagery sources, or can import archive video and still imagery from existing database and video management systems.
